eCOGRA (e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and
Assurance) is a new initiative launched by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC). The
primary objective of eCOGRA is to provide player protection, by providing
comfort to the player that the games at approved online casinos are fair, the player will be paid timeously
and treated fairly, and that the operators will behave responsibly. Players will
be assured of this when they transact with online gaming sites displaying the
eCOGRA seal of approval.
Mission
The objective of eCOGRA is to be an independent entity
that provides important player protection to consumers, including that operators
are honest, games are fair, monetary deposits are safe and winning bets are paid
in a timely manner.
Software Suppliers
eCOGRA is open for application for membership by online
gaming software suppliers who share the vision of fair and responsible online
gaming.
Operators
In order to be awarded the eCOGRA seal, an online gaming operator needs to be
a software licensee of an eCOGRA member, satisfy eCOGRA that their operations
have been, and will continue to be, conducted in a highly reputable manner, and
comply with eCOGRA's Generally Accepted Practices. These practices are also
known as "eGAP" and stipulate a comprehensive list of minimum
requirements and suggested practices addressing player protection, fair gaming
and responsible operator conduct. eCOGRA's constitution ensures that the
independent directors are solely responsible for determining which operators
ultimately qualify for the seal.
Online Casinos
Online casinos maintained by those operators which are approved by eCOGRA may
display the eCOGRA seal of approval.
